Find out what is already included.
Some homes use gas for heating, hot water, or cooking; others use no gas at all. A lease may include gas in rent, or a building may require an individual account. Ask the property manager which arrangement applies before requesting a new service.
Confirm the supply and setup requirements.
Check the provider for the address and ask what is needed to establish the account. If the property has been vacant or the supply was stopped, ask the provider whether inspection, appliance checks, access, or a technician appointment is necessary.
Ask for the total cost.
Clarify usage charges, fixed account charges, deposits, setup fees, and billing frequency. If choosing among offers is possible, compare equivalent terms rather than a single advertised number. Any assistance fee is separate from the charges for your gas supply.
Let the provider confirm the start.
Request written confirmation of the start date and the party responsible for any visit. Coordinate access with your landlord if needed. Our planning guide does not authorize meter work, arrange a safety inspection, or guarantee a connection time.
