SERVICE GUIDE / ELECTRICITY

The first step to
a brighter move.

Electricity setup starts with the address. Understand who serves your home, what an application involves, and what to confirm before your move.

01

Start with the address, not an advertised rate.

Check which utility serves the property and whether supplier choice applies. Your landlord or property manager can help identify building requirements, but account arrangements should be confirmed with the provider. A supplier offer and the company responsible for local delivery may be different.

02

Bring the right details to the conversation.

Have the complete service address, unit number, desired start date, and lease or ownership information ready. Ask the provider which identity or eligibility documents it needs and use its verified, secure channel to supply them. Do not send passwords, Social Security numbers, or payment details through an ordinary website inquiry.

03

Look beyond the headline price.

Ask about the rate structure, contract length, deposits, setup charges, recurring fees, and any cancellation conditions. If a quote includes usage assumptions, ask how a different level of consumption would change the bill. Confirm any offer in writing before making a decision.

04

Coordinate the handover.

Ask the provider to confirm the service start date, whether a meter visit or access is needed, and what happens if the move is delayed. Arrange the end of your old service separately. Keep confirmation numbers so you can follow up with the company responsible for the account.
